BNY Mellon Wealth Management says it’s bolstering its presence in Miami — a market it expects to boom with high-net-worth investors — with hires from Citigroup, Bank of America and other firms.

Gina Smurro joins the firm as senior client strategist from Citi, where she was a private banker working with ultra-HNW clients and their family offices, according to BNY Mellon. Previously, Smurro served as an associate private banker and private banking analyst at JPMorgan, BNY Mellon says.

Sebastien Gault, meanwhile, joins BNY Mellon Wealth Management as family wealth advisor, according to the firm. Before joining BNY Mellon, he was a senior vice president and portfolio manager at Bank of America Private Bank, BNY Mellon says. Previously, Gault served as chief investment officer of the family office CNL Financial Group/JMS Holdings as well as a management consultant and private equity advisor at McKinsey & Co., according to BNY Mellon.

Tamara Oswald, who joins BNY Mellon Wealth Management as associate wealth manager, previously worked as a financial consultant at United Financial Consultants, offering risk management planning, estate and wealth management advice to family businesses and ultra high net worth clients, BNY Mellon says.

In addition, Jessica Diaz, who previously worked as an associate client advisor at Bessemer Trust, joins BNY Mellon Wealth Management as analyst in the firm’s global insights lab, according to the company.

Finally, Francesca Tabak, who recently completed BNY Mellon Wealth Management's 2021 summer analyst class program, joins the firm’s private banking unit as an analyst, the company says.

"While Miami has always been a perennial travel destination with its amazing beaches, diverse culture, thriving restaurants and burgeoning art scene, it has become a magnet since the pandemic for ultra-high-net-worth families and institutional clients leaving New York, Boston and California permanently for a better quality of life and more favorable tax and business climate," Laura Kaplan, BNY Mellon Wealth Management market president for Miami, said in a statement.
