Calvin Kong of Mitchel Field, N.Y., joins Ameriprise’s employee channel as managing director, according to a press release from the company.
His practice, now called the Kahn and Kong Group — named in honor of his friend and partner, the late Harold Kahn — previously oversaw $141 million at Morgan Stanley, Ameriprise says.
"After careful deliberation, I decided to move to Ameriprise because it is known for its client-centric culture, and its commitment to comprehensive financial advice,” Kong says in the press release. “Additionally, I have access to industry-leading technology and top research. These items are already making a difference in my practice and the value I am able to provide to clients.”
He then had a stint of less than a year at Merrill Lynch before joining Morgan Stanley in 2013, according to his profile.
